The press conference of the 16th International Cultural Research Festival was held on Tuesday, 21 September 2023, at the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication. In this meeting, Qasim Zaeri (Chairman of Culture, Art and Communication Research Institute and Festival Secretary), Sajjad Safarharandi (Festival Scientific Secretary), Maysam Mahdiar (Research Assistant of RICAC and Festival Executive Director), Hassan Khojasteh (IRIB University Faculty Member and Festival Scientific Council Member) ), Saeed Tavousi Masrour (a member of the scientific council of the festival) and a group of journalists were present at the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication.

The press conference of the 16th International Cultural Research Festival was held on Tuesday, 21 September 2023, at the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication. In this meeting, Qasim Zaeri (Chairman of Culture, Art and Communication Research Institute and Festival Secretary), Sajjad Safarharandi (Festival Scientific Secretary), Maysam Mahdiar (Research Assistant of RICAC and Festival Executive Director), Hassan Khojasteh (IRIB University Faculty Member and Festival Scientific Council Member) ), Saeed Tavousi Masrour (a member of the scientific council of the festival) and a group of journalists were present at the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication.

In the first part of this meeting, Qasim Zaeri said that holding an international cultural research festival is one of the goals and duties of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. According to Zairi, the 16th International Festival of Cultural Research will be held in Research Week in December 2023. This year, with the support of Dr. Esmaili, the Honorable Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the efforts of the colleagues of the Research Institute of Culture, Art and Communication, the conditions for holding the 16th edition have been provided. This festival will be held to encourage and support writers and celebrate cultural figures and their works.
 

 

Zaeri further said that the festival emphasizes strengthening the research culture in the first place. Different researchers in Iran are researching cultural issues. This festival tries to identify and support them in line with the missions of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. This festival will be held internationally. From the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance perspective, the main issue is the promotion of cultural governance in Iran. Therefore, all areas related to culture and organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Culture have a role. The research on culture, art, media, and communication, as well as religious and Islamic research related to new technologies and future cultural studies, will be appreciated at this festival. The special award section is named after Dr. Emad Afrough, a prominent Iranian cultural researcher. The purpose of this action is to preserve the name and memory of this late and distinguished teacher in the field of culture and to support the continuation of committed criticism.
 

 

Qasim Zaeri, the festival secretary, said, we are trying to introduce the winners of this festival to the National Elite Foundation so that they can benefit from the benefits of membership in this foundation." Another thing that distinguishes this festival is that the President of the Islamic Republic gives its awards. In the international section, the emphasis is on research in Islam and Iran. We are trying to inform about this festival through cultural advisers of the Islamic Republic of Iran in different countries and ask them for help in identifying and receiving the works of top researchers. The awards of this festival will be given in several main sections, especially for women, young researchers, and veteran researchers.

 In the other part of this news conference, Hassan Khojasteh emphasized the need for more prominent research in media and communication in Iran. He said that the basis of the philosophical theory of all social media is individualistic thought. Nonetheless, Iranian society is a collectivist society in which institutions such as family are important. The online networks we have built are all individualistic. We have yet to even once think about whether we can build collectivist networks, and this is because the Internet in Iran is seen as more technical than socio-technical. The research sent to this festival may help us in this field.

 

Saeed Tavousi Masrour said giving priority to pathological and practical works shows the importance of criticism in this festival. Since Iranian, Islamic, and Shia cultures are interwoven, this feature has been paid attention to in this festival, and the practical and problem-oriented approach in this area is also considered. This section has a lot of diversity and includes Quranic research and Nahj al-Balagha to the history and life of Ahl al-Bayt and Shiism, as well as social studies of religion, sociology, and anthropology. Due to the festival's emphasis on the practicality of the works, the jurisprudence section is also considered, which means the jurisprudence of art, and communication. Even rituals and rituals also will be welcomed. One of the sections of religious and Islamic research is the research related to the Islamic world, which is emphasized not in terms of international relations but in terms of intercultural communication.
